Salary Calculator
Enter what you are paid and how often. The calculator converts it to every other pay period, using your own working hours.
| Period | Gross pay |
|---|---|
| Hourly | $25 |
| Daily | $200 |
| Weekly | $1,000 |
| Every two weeks | $2,000 |
| Monthly | $4,333.33 |
| Yearly | $52,000 |
Example
$25 an hour for 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year, is $52,000 a year or $4,333.33 a month before tax.
How the salary calculator works
Everything is converted to a yearly figure first. An hourly rate is multiplied by hours per week and weeks per year, a daily rate by days per week and weeks per year, and a monthly salary by twelve.
The yearly figure is then divided back down into each period. A quick rule for full-time work: double the hourly rate and add three zeros. 25 an hour is about 50,000 a year, based on 2,000 working hours.
If you take unpaid time off, lower the weeks worked per year. With four unpaid weeks, enter 48.
Common questions
Are these amounts before or after tax?
Before tax. Tax and other deductions depend on your country and personal situation, so take-home pay will be lower.
Why is monthly pay not four times weekly pay?
A year has 52 weeks and 12 months, so an average month has about 4.33 weeks. Monthly pay is yearly pay divided by twelve.
How do I compare a salaried job with a contract rate?
Convert both to yearly pay with realistic weeks worked. Contractors usually have unpaid holidays, sick days and gaps between contracts, and often pay for their own benefits.
